Operating Commercial Potteries
Hello - as a newbie here, I'm after a little advice. I'm located in Dunedin and I'm looking for a commercial pottery that's capable of slip casting or other molding process for the production of a new ceramic kitchenware product. Beyond Temuka, are there any other firms operating in New Zealand?
Thanks,
David

Re: Operating Commercial Potteries
Hi there, Steiner Ceramics operates in Auckland.
There may be small potteries out there somewhere.

Re: Operating Commercial Potteries
Thanks for the information, Ev - I'll go an look them up. Thing is, this is (Ideally!) a volume product, so small may not be the best way forward, and the ethos of our company is to try and stay locally made as much as we can.

Re: Operating Commercial Potteries
Hi David, Steiner is a distinct possibility. Others are:
Splashy in Hamilton
Keriblue in Kerikeri
Morris and James Matakana
and Tony Sly in Raglan.
Off the top of my head I'd say Splashy and Keriblue would be more likely than the other two because they are both set up for casting, but all are worth investigating. All the best with your project.

Re: Operating Commercial Potteries
Thank you for the pointers - very much obliged. We're working our way through our needs and design at the moment, so are after someone who has experience in volume production and the technical aspects of model making and such - so will check these out.
Cheers,
David
