Royal Grafton - Crown Lynn Ceramics (UK) history 1971 - 1985
Royal Grafton was owned by Crown Lynn Ceramics (UK) Ltd from 1971 to 1985.
They exported to the USA, Canada, Europe, South Africa and NZ.
There is a high quality catalogue of their wares when Crown Lynn owned them at Te Toi Uku.
Also they have many price lists and promotional photos for Royal Grafton Fine Bone China that was available through Crown Lynn circa 1980's.
Incidentally one of the patterns is called Indian Tree ...
A 36 piece dinner set in Majestic Maroon cost $323.40nz which was quite expensive, but was Fine Bone China.
Te Toi Uku also have many pages of decals for Royal Grafton including the backstamp. Some of these decals have the ABJones backstamp .....?
The Grafton Ironstone Exclusively for Devaz Greece was made at Crown Lynn in NZ under an arrangement with Royal Grafton for Devaz who sold Party Plan crockery. The backstamp on this ware is along the lines of the Royal Grafton stamps.
In the 1979 Ceramco Limited A History booklet it shows Royal Grafton in the Company Directory.
The business was bought by Royal Grafton China Ltd in 1985, then sold to the John Tams Group PLC in 1992 - 2000. Tams Group Ltd bought the rights to Tams Royal Grafton and Grafton Living .... and then things get murky.
Would I call this crockery Crown Lynn? No I would call it Royal Grafton Fine Bone China.
