Some old outdoor pots very cool (well I think so anyway!)
I found these ages ago in Paeroa and yesterday I finally gave them a scrub. Two of them look OLD and I wonder who made them. This is wood fired, hand thrown, finger whipped(?) around the top, and very similar to a pot I photographed at the old pottery families' graveyard in Hobsonville. Mine is 15 cm tall, the graveyard version is larger.
This is the grave plot showing a similar pot. The grave is for Charles Nicklin (1910) and his wife - can't read the detail. I don't think my pot is as old as this but wouldn't it be exciting if it was!
This is the other old pot on the grave plot.
Here are my other two terracotta pots. I think the first is quite old, the other much newer and possibly even imported (though its hole is not in the centre of the base so maybe not...) These pots are all around 15 cm tall.
This one looks newer.
Last - does anyone recognise this? The mark says Heritage Pottery. Nicely made, beautiful glaze. Looks almost Bendigo-ish but I can't find any reference that makes sense.
