This lovely jar is in the Dargaville museum which generously allowed me to photograph it.  The museum is a real treat.  They have a wonderful display of gumdigger history - including a lineup of spades with little biographies of their owners. The Dargaville area has a rich history of Croatian/Yugoslav/Dalmatian immigrants, many of whom ended up in the gumfields.  The whole museum is very human - and surprisingly moving. Highly recommended.
