A chook eggcup with unusal markings on the base
I will add the photos that Sharon sent as she couldn't get them to load the right way up.
Sharon will add her words to this unusual eggcup.

Re: A chook eggcup with unusal markings on the base
Thank you Ev. The link shows shards in the NZ Museums collection which appear identical to those of the egg cup in the photos, which has a thin, rough glaze on it. There are several chips around the rim too. I found the egg cup at an op shop and thought it had a CL feel to it!

Collection of 13 ceramic egg cup shards dug from former Crown Lynn site. Mixture of glazed and bisque pieces. Some have been glued together and have evidence of 'trial' numbers showing that they may well have come from a trial glaze firing

What an interesting find, Sharon. I hope one day we will discover what these numbers and letters mean!

I have one of Richard's quirkier finds which has hand painted letter codes including "OFT". He told me it stood for "Old factory Trial". Perhaps the OF incised on this eggcup means Old Factory too?
