ti toki
crown lynn made the screw top ones and Cameron brown made them and larry in view rd henderson made them. It's a bit like the chicken and the egg the answer is out there . Try the Ti Toki owner.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Many thanks signal red
I didn't realise that any of the bottles had screw tops ....
Once upon a time there was a lot of info about the history of the Ti Toki bottles on the net, which seems to have vanished now and I never thought it would disappear, so never recorded any of it and can't remember much at all other than Glen Eden being one of the places that they were manufactured.

Great info on the Ti-Toki bottles on the Collectors Forum on Trademe -
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Community/MessageBoard/Messages.aspx?id=1188089&topic=16&#p24105672
As I'm not sure how long those threads stay around I will add some of the info that kalevala added.
Orzels made the Ti-Toki bottles from 1979 to mid 1984 in brown and jade green.
Crown Lynn Ti-Toki bottles have a screw cap and are smaller and made them from mid 1984 to when the Ti-Toki company was first on-sold.
Did some research ....
After searching for info I found a screw top bottle from an old TM listing and it had measurements of 26cm. One listed with a cork had measurements of 30cm.
Another old listing said that Hemara Hemara was the modeller.
Some have the year made scratched through the glaze like the one posted above, which reveal that they have been made during Orzels manufacture.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
So would this Ti Toki bottle have been made by Crown Lynn?
As it has a screw top and is 26cm high ......
Can't see any stand out differences.

I noticed that one too. The first time I have seen one marked so clearly as to the maker.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
I was talking to Peter Rogers at Real Time on Sunday and he mentioned that he had had some beakers at one time that he thought matched the Ti Toki bottles.
Has anyone heard of such a thing?
The only thing I can think of his Hemara's Titian "experimental mug"
http://newzealandpottery.forumotion.net/t665-experimental-titian-hemara-design-mug#1658 but Peter did specifically say "beaker" and any resemblance to the mug is superficial.
I think there were a few different CL Air NZ beakers,
but I am only familiar with the 1334.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
There are some small air new Zealand beakers, but we don't have any on the site yet. Heather put a link on from some that are in Te Papa's collection and I will try to find it later. I've tried several times to win the odd one without success.

Thanks Ev,
I've had a look and I think it likely these are what he was talking about.

South Pacific Pottery By Stewart Pottery New Zealand on the base.
It looks the same as the Orzel ones doesn't it?

Ti Toki bottle making history
(I read above now that Stewart Pottery has been mentioned previously.)
How many different potteries does that make that we know of?
Hemara Hemara made the bottle mould.
Orzel 1979 - 1984
Crown Lynn 1984 - 1985
Stewart Pottery made them for a few years in the late 1980's
They were difficult to ensure that the liquor did not seep through, so the early bottles we sealed with food quality hot wax. Hemara made the molds for us. and they were brown or green glaze.
Kermiko Ceramics "Larry Hadley in View Road"
"Kathy" and Hobby Ceramics
Aotearoa New Zealand run by Ruth Hirst and Karuna Douglas c2005 - 2007
Studio Ceramics from ? to 2017
Steiner Ceramics from 2017 .... still making
It sounds like a similar story to the Air New Zealand miniatures.
We appear to have an original designer for those.
It would be good to pin down the origins of the Ti-Toki bottle too.

Aotearoa New Zealand Ti Toki
Thanks to Ana on Facebook who found the names of Ruth Hirst and Karuna Douglas who made the crocks at Muriwai from 2005 to at least 2007 and they have Aotearoa New Zealand on the base. They also mention numbers. This information is in this Life and Leisure article https://ti-toki.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/lifeleisure-article-sept-oct-07.pdf
The article says that there have been four producers since starting in 1979.
I also want to include that Studio Ceramics were making the bottles up until they closed in May 2017. Not sure when they started, but made them for at least a couple of years.
Bob Steiner was trying to get the job last I heard.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Hi there
My grandmother has come across a couple of these Ti Toki bottles - in great condition with the tags etc still intact. Are they rare and collectible? Any idea on worth? I have seen on ebay that the three on there go for upwards of $100 around the world. We arent interested in selling etc but my grandma wants to give some money to the lady who gave them to her
Thanks for any help or advice!

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Hi there, these are not rare as they have been made for nearly 40 years. However they are very popular and collectable. They usually sell for around $100 on Trade Me, but one sold recently for $75

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Hi Mike, This is a Crown Lynn Ti Toki bottle. If the holes were for a lamp, one would be in the lower side not the base. I have one in the same glaze and it was made in 1985 and it cost a fair bit, but it doesn't have any holes in it.
Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Thanks. How much is a fair amount? I think whoever put the holes in it planned for a lamp but yes bottom one should have been out the side. Wonder how much it hurts the value.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
I paid $300 for mine, but I wouldn't have paid anywhere near that if it had holes in it.
Personally I think it would affect the price.

Good luck with your ebay listing Kamloopsbc
I'm sure the Polynesian influence will be noticed.

Re: Ti-Toki bottles ...
Many thanks to Larry Hadley for this information that he posted on Facebook NZ Commercial and Studio page...
Larry Hadley: Hi new Zealand Pottery, we manufactured thousands of Titoki over the years and had them filled in a winery just around the corner in Henderson, can't remember the name. We had our own mold making department and when weight and measures insisted that the bottle had to contain a consistent 500mls I made new blocks and molds to accommodate this.. you will note there is a double ring on the foot, thats my mark. Our bottles all had corks with black plastic tops like number 3 .We stopped manufacture and the production was passed to a husband and wife team out by the west Auckland beaches..
