For gallery Paul Hemara marks and products
A while ago I recorded an interview with Paul Hemara (Hemara and Frances Hemara's son). I have yet to transcribe it, but meanwhile I want to put on record his marks and some of his work. More items have already been put on this site by Ev and others.
This pot is from when he and a business partner made straw-fired terracotta pots under the brand name Pacifica. They went great guns until someone started importing a similar range - cheaper. This vase is 24 cm high.
These smaller vases sold well, but he also did some much larger ones - these were photographed on his deck. They are all around one metre tall. Note the impressed mark.
The following pots are from his parents' house. From memory around 35 cm high.
SOME of these pots carried this mark:
Lastly... here is some of the slipcast Kiwiana ware he is doing at present.

How excellent to see Paul Hemara's marks Val !!
When I catch my breath I will make a Hemara Gallery .... but don't hold your breath as it won't be today.

There were two of Paul's straw fired pots at the Papakura Salvation Army Shop this week.
They had the Pacifica stamp, and it was the first time I had come across it.

I can kick myself because a couple of years ago I took a couple of Pacifica stamped terracotta pots to our local second hand shop to sell because I didn't know who made it and I didn't want to end up with too many pottery pieces in my garage. Our second hand shop only takes a 30% commission to sell stuff.

Re: For gallery Paul Hemara marks and products
Ev, should these go in the gallery too?
Update, I managed to by one of the pots I sold in the second hand shop back a few months ago because it was being sold again by the person who had purchased my one.
What comes round goes round.
