Re: This is not an Aquila Vase
this may be a hobbie ceramic piece looks like a hobbie glaze from the 80s you may find the glaze in mayco google hobbie ceramics. They used their own shapes as hobbie ceramics, the moulds would still have their name underneath

Re: This is not an Aquila Vase
If it was made in a Hobby Ceramics class it would have the name or initials of the person who glazed the piece, so that the person could identify their work. Sometimes they put the date as well.
Re: This is not an Aquila Vase
yes i agree with you and often the foot was glazed and fired on a pin, never figured out why they did this as it would have been an extra cost maybe to many glaze coats by client on ware would sometimes run in firing even bigger cost.

Re Aquila Vase
The base is not easy to photograph. It has NEW ZEALAND round the rim with AQUILA underneath that.

Re: This is not an Aquila Vase
As Aquila/Orzel etc didn't fire their pottery on stilts, this vase will not be Aquila even though it says Aquila on the base ....???
Re: This is not an Aquila Vase
Sometimes Aquila moulds were used in Hobby Ceramics classes without the Aquila mark being removed from the bottom.
You also see this with Clay Craft - marked pieces being used for Hobby Ceramics. And I also have a large Cameron Brown (Snr) vase which has obviously been reproduced as Hobby Ceramics.
