Alys Stroud? Empty Alys Stroud?

Post  Flick Mon 28 Jan - 14:22

This very, very thin and fine dish, with circular central foot, (diameter 19.5cm) (red clay),appears to have the mark of one Alys Stroud (see mark on rim)-as seems to match up with NZ potters marks website. Dish has been intricately decorated with a tree and birds, and underneath has a dark metallic glaze. Can anyone tell me more about the artist,( where, when) - obviously very talented to have produced such a delicate piece. Thanks.

I checked out the pieces I have and they are all made with white clay .....
Then I checked out the Barry Ball topic and Dollcrown has an earthenware piece.
So I totally agree with you Tim - 1280 pottery.
I have seen initials made by the decorator before too on the 1280 ware.

Oops forgot to add the link to the Barry Ball topic -
