Mattone - Salisbury Pottery
I have just bought a vase which looked distinctly crown lynn early shape and it has a sticker "Mattone" on it. I have just found, in Gail Henry's backstamps, a Mattone sticker which is attributed to Royal Oak circa 1946. I will post a pic of the vase and the sticker when it arrives.

Re: Mattone - Salisbury Pottery
The vase arrived today..it has the number 22 on the base which is the Crown lynn/Ambrico number..
I have also found I have another - the sticker was a little obscure - but it is a shape 43 (marked) and is definately Mattone also...

Re: Mattone - Salisbury Pottery
Papers Past has a few adverts for Mattone Pottery and they are from 1942 and 1944.
One advert from 22 May 1942 advertises Mattone Ashtrays that simulate an Arm Chair, in mottled brick, brown, red, blues and salmon for 4/6
As this ware was made pre 1946 which was when Royal Oak came about, I'm going to change the title to Mattone - Salisbury Pottery.
