This large pot is from the collection of Manos.
It is unmarked, but by using Fire On The Clay written by Dick Scott, where there are drawings of the lion head handles, Manos is quite sure that it is from the Clark Pottery. Is it a water filter? The hole for the spigot suggests it is.

I understand then, that if this is R O Clark - it is a piece which may date back to 1870 - 1890?

It would be fantastic if we could find a date for this piece Heather.
R.O. Clark started making drain pipes in the late 1850's .... and they were still in production using that name until about 1929.
It has a 'Victorian' look about it. Lets hope someone out there can help us give it a date.

Wow!! It almost looks like the lid is a different clay and a different firing to the main body of the keg [if that's what it is] doesn't it?
What are the letters in the middle of the stamp?
Is it a measurement perhaps?
Now that has to be old ! !!!

I need to put this link here -http://bickler.co.nz/clough/clough_monograph3.pdf It is the 2008 results of an Archaeological Investigation of R.O. Clark pottery Hobsonville that was done in 2006 after an intact kiln base was unearthed by developers. It was done by Clough & Associates Ltd and is super intensive and professional and includes Price List photos.
