This reminds me of Nikau and funnily there is a pattern named Nikau 435 and I've noted that it's on the Forma shape ..... I must put this into the No Names Gallery, just in case we find the name!

Nikau d435 looks like Topic and is on the Forma shape, so it's not this one.

The test pattern I posted on this strand looks very similar to the plate that Mark Cleverley put in his exhibition at Objectspace. Yay! Now all I have to do is find my plate...

Post  Dale Ritter Wed 31 Aug - 11:56

Used to have our dinnerware made up of samples from the design studio. The table looked great with all the different designs and was a great talking point during dinner parties.

Unfortunately got rid of them all except this one. My favourite.

Dale that is LOVELY. My friends Lew and Anne at Matapouri were friends of Mac McCaffrey's and their dinnerware was all tests as well. They were enjoyed by all. Mac was still diving with Lew when he was 80.

What a wonderful pattern Dale.  I love the colours.
If they did trial runs of around 100 maybe I will find one someday .....
It reminds me of this Forma cup and saucer that was at the Mark Cleverley exhibition.
Actually they look like the same pattern now that I see them together !!

Yes they are the same. Thinking of putting the plate on Trade Me with other bits and bobs but don't know if there is a market.

These patterns were part of the development of designs that were silkscreened by the in house facility. The original brief was to use only one colour and Mark came up many interesting ideas. Then they used colours that reacted with the glaze and created more interest. Usually the design would be printed in different inks and applied on different glazes.

Lots of fun!

Let me assure you that there is a market for these sorts of things Dale.
I go through Trade Me every day looking for them .....
and I know that there are many others out there that do the same!
How do I know?  Well I bump into them when bidding arghhhhh.

*Gasps loudly*
Wow that first Pin Box Lid is a shape 1073 Post Head Carving and we don't have it in the Four Digit Gallery yet.  Would it be possible to use your photo Dale and I will credit you for it?
The Maori chief lid isn't in the records, but the Portage Museum has a master mould for it.  I think I saw one listed on Trade Me once, but it went crazy.....

Sure, go ahead Ev.

Maryr, you are stretching my memory. The base was jiggered and the lids slip cast. I think there were 6 designs in several colours.

I don't recall the occasion/reason for production but Expo70 is in my mind as they were in the same box as these.
