That cup looks like a very old shape Crown Lynn cup....
perhaps Catherine got hold of some very old moulds when they closed?
As well as some of the newer shape moulds that you mostly see on trademe all painted and pretty.
Would love to know what the story is.

Catherine Anselmi can be found in the book
Profiles - 24 New Zealand Potters by Cecilia Parkinson & John Parker .... first published in 1988.
She was born in 1953 at New Plymouth NZ and began potting in 1977.
She studied with Pat Perrin and John Parker for a couple of years.
In 1987 she was slip casting lamp bases and terracotta pieces for interior design stores.
So I guess she will have to go into the Studio Pottery topic when we have a photo of her early work!

Found this yesterday and thought it was a Crown Lynn piece as they made this same shaped vase.
I was very surprised to see that it had Catherine Anselmi stamped on the base.
So I gather that she must have used many of the Crown Lynn moulds.

Catherine began slip-casting and decorating domestic ware in 1986. She only sold her pieces at the Victoria Park Market in Auckland and for a short time at the Wakefield Market in Wellington. Catherine purchased equipment from an auction when Crown Lynn closed down : trolleys, benches and tables. She employed John Tai Tin [who worked at Crown Lynn] and 8 decorators. Three kilns were used - 1 x 15ft and 2 x 20ft - bisquing to 1000' and glazing to 1150'.

Excellent thank you Kat! If you find any more info about Anselmi when she was doing her colourful work I would be SO HAPPY. I found one once online, and foolishly didn't print it out and now I can't see it.
