Crown Lynn New Four Digit Number Shape Codes
The four digit numbers were first used in 1964.
First number defines the type of ware:
1 -Castware [Utility ware except for jugs and vases]
2 - Artware [Cast vases, figurines, plaques, etc]
3 - Cups or ware made on cup jiggers.
4 - Flatware or ware made on flatware jiggers.
5 - Basin jigger ware.
6 - Cast jugs.
7 - Hand thrown ware.
8 - Ram Press ware.
The second number defines material of the ware:
0 - 5 Earthenware [1000 to 1599 = Castware, Earthenware]
6-7 Vitrified ware.
8 - Stoneware
9 - China?
