swan # 170 marking query..
Hi, have found my way back to this fantastic site with another query….i looked through existing forums & forgive me if i missed it- but could someone please tell me………On the base of my 170 crown lynn swan, there is a "D" incised (?) alongside the stamp. I had a peruse on google & found mention of others with a 'F' underneath also. could anyone please tell me what these different letters represent please. Thank you in advance

Re: swan # 170 marking query..
Hi there, that is one mystery that we haven't solved yet. There is a possibility that it may be the initial of someone who worked on it, like the fettler, but we aren't sure.
Re: swan # 170 marking query..
thank you for your reply ev..
Ahh the mystery- how cool.
(She/ He?) is a lovely piece, id never actually held one before & i was impressed by the beauty of the simplicity despite the deep lustre yet fairly dainty too - gosh that could almost be a sentence from a bad Mills & Boon *sorry*.
I must admit tho, i am intrigued as i imagine a fair bit of effort has been put into the figuring out of this ( judging by the large fanbase of said swans..)
i look forward to finding out.
I am selling a few nice (and very tidy) things, on behalf of an elderly couple, over the next few weeks.. Hence the swan query. But i like to know what im selling & i enjoy the research side of things.
there are a few pieces of pottery that are unmarked, to be honest i wouldnt know where to begin to identify them.
Lucky for me u guys are here!
so im sure i catch ya fairly soon
thanks again
