Spartan Products
Spartan Products was operated at Glen Eden from 1944 to 1946 by three men who had worked in the Specials department at Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Ltd. They were Norman Stevens, David Stuart and Jack Aberly.

New Zealand Studio Pottery History
In 1979 there were around 44,000 people making pottery in New Zealand. 5,000 of these were classed as professional potters. From Census statistics.

Jovan Rancich
Jovan Rancich a Serbian emigrant set up a studio in Titirangi Road, New Lynn in 1932, where he made richly coloured decorative pieces. After his death in 1942 his wife Vera continued to make pottery with Rancich's apprentice Wally Silva for several years.
