Crown Lynn Ginger Jar Gobbledy Gook?

Today I heard some gossip about a man in Nelson that made copious copies of many peoples pottery, including the Crown Lynn ginger jars. The latter he supposedly stamped with the tiki and three stars mark. I say what? His name was something like Grupp?

KIENHUA backstamp

I had this backstamp translated today....
The Cantonese writing says HUA KIEN
and I was told that the Chinese write backwards ...
so it translates to KIEN HUA. [pronounced Keen Waa]
They suggest that this could be the name of a company.....?
Cantonese is spoken in Southern China and Hong Kong.

Yesterday I was told that Kienhua was a man's name
and that it meant strength.

The background

During the years of excavation at Crown Lynn sites Richard Quinn found hundreds of shards of Kienhua ginger jars in a variety of colours. In one of the many discussions he had with Tom Clark Tom confirmed that he'd made them. Tom also told Gail Lambert/Henry that he'd made a blue ginger jar.

The buckets of shards are now with the Portage Ceramics Trust and later research may determine the complete range of colours manufactured.
