There has been a lot of controversy this year regarding the selection of the works by Scott Chamberlin who is a Professor of Ceramics from Colorado University USA.
As these are my other half's favourite mugs - though he prefers Cobblestone, I pick them up when I see them ..... heh and I am a potter!

This is very unusual as it has the Riverstone matt glaze on the lower quarter and this rutile glaze over the other 3/4 as well as over the Riverstone.

I wonder if this was an experiment or if they made more and wonder what they called this glaze?

In the process of upgrading their servers, which didn't make any improvements only problems, Forumotion decided to go back to the old servers. In doing this every forum using Forumotion has lost their avatars, added emoticons and gallery photos.

Avatars - all you have to do is remove the non-showing one and add a new photo.

Smilies - I've added some and will add the rest when I can.

Galleries - These will be reloaded - but it will take time.

Thank you for your patience,

Cheers ...

Presley Ware

Presley Ware stickers were black on gold on wares marketed by Mr Presley from the 1950s to 70s according to Gail Henry page 238. The vase I have is also a Titian design. there is no mention in Val Monks book of it so I am assuming it has the same relationship that Salisbury had to Crown Lynn. That is it is a Titian product but distributed as Presley Ware. Definately NZ Pottery.

I picked this up the other day as the names rang a bell.

Though I haven't been able to find out anything about them yet!

My wires may have been crossed with Harry and May Davis from Crewenna Pottery?

This piece has been very high fired in probably an oil fired kiln.

Using Tenmoku was resist glazing.

On the base of the little bottle is a sticker which reads -

Handmade stoneware

Else and Colin Davies

Pukenamu Road,

Te Horo Beach.

Does anyone knows anything about this couple?

I received a few pieces that my grandmother had in her beach house....brought late 1930's into 1940's????. Any info most welcome. The mark is a crown over a curved Crown Lynn with New Zealand under that. All the books I have seen have not displayed it nor I have seen it in the galleries......

We have a record of a kiwi in our animals department with the number 156 clearly marked on the base..there is one on trademe at the moment and the owner states it is clearly marked 165. I have two kiwis and they are both un-numbered BUT on looking at them though they appear the same, they are different in size.. what do you think?? The smaller brown trickleglaze is the one in our notes at 4 and a half inches long..
